celebrating our one year

Last week Paul and I celebrated our one year anniversary... wow, I cannot believe we have been married over a year now! Time just flies.

So for our anniversary celebration we traveled to Galveston the weekend before for a relaxing weekend, just the two of us.
We drove down on Friday and had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. Paul had never been there and I thought it would be fun.

Afterwards, we relaxed at our hotel, Harbor House, and watched a Duck Dynasty marathon!

Saturday we slept in. Then we headed to brunch before seeing the sites. We went to the Bishop's Palace, which was a home but now is a museum  It is one of the last of the older homes that hasn't been knocked down.

Then we headed to Pleasure Pier. It was really cold and windy that day so it was an adventure. Pleasure Pier was built out in the ocean kind of like the Pier in LA (I always forget its name). It has food, rides, and games. I really enjoyed it but I thought since we had to pay to get on the pier at least the carnival games should have been free.

We finished it off with eating at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. for a late lunch.

Towards the end of the day, we went on tours of Coast Guard boat by our hotel and the Ocean Star Oil Rig and Museum. Both of those we very interesting.

That night for dinner we ate at Willie G's which was right next to our hotel so we were able to walk which was nice. I tried gumbo for the first time and we had a yummy dessert (do not have any pictures of this night... sad face).

The next day we slept in and slowly got ready to leave and headed up. Wish we could have weekends like that more often but we really enjoyed spending that time together celebrating our first year of marriage.

Our anniversary day!
We took the day off from work so we could spend more time together. We woke up, cooked a great breakfast of whole wheat pancakes and deer sausage. Then we ran a few errands and went car shopping for my future mom care (we have been thinking about this for while because we only have my car and Paul's work vehicle). We test drove the Kia Sorento and then went to have a couples massage in the afternoon. Afterwards we picked up our wedding cake (our baker made us another one so we didn't have to freeze ours) and had a nice dinner of chili and wedding cake at home!

Our gifts for each other:
FYI: We wanted to do the traditional paper gift

I gave made him a deck of cards with 52 reasons why I love him

He wrote me a song and sang it to me, just him and his guitar

a 2013 Kia Sorento!

Duck hunting waders... arrived last night!

Can't wait to see where the next year takes us!
